The Arizona State Retirement System is committed to the openness and transparency of our business practices.
As a state agency, the ASRS abides by Arizona Public Record (§39-121) law and accommodates public record requests, as well as general requests for public information.
The ASRS also abides by State Statute §38-755 related to the protection of member information.
Filing a Public Records Request
Please review the information in the link below for an overview of Arizona public records. It’s presented by the state’s Ombudsman Office, an agency that assists citizens with navigating government.
How to Request Public Records – Arizona Ombudsman (azoca.gov)
To file a public records request with Arizona State Retirement System, please follow these steps:
- Public Records Request Form - Fill out this request form, being as specific as you can on what records you need.
- Submit the form via email to: [email protected]
You will receive an acknowledgment email within five business days, and the ASRS will process your request in a timely manner.
Please note, the ASRS also follows State Statute §38-755 – ASRS Member’s account information; beneficiary designation; spousal consent; confidentiality. ARS §38-755 Prohibits inspection of ASRS member information in order to protect a member’s identity from fraud, abuse, theft, or civil or criminal activity, except for:
- The member’s name
- Membership status (active, inactive, retired)
- Current or most recent employer
- Average monthly compensation used to calculate a retirement benefit
- Credited service on account for an active or inactive member, or the credited service used to calculate a retired member’s benefit
- Gross pension amount actually paid to a retired member
- Most recent retirement date
- Current account balance for an active or inactive member
- Gross LTD program benefit actually paid to a disabled member
- Amount paid to purchase service
- Amount of service purchased

Specifically prohibited from inspection are any un-redacted records containing a member’s:
- Social Security number
- Bank account information
- Address
- Telephone number
- E-mail address
- Medical records
- Health insurance information
- Beneficiary or survivor information
- Disability information
- Or any information that is protected by any federal or state law not described above
ASRS Members – Please note: The ASRS does not disclose personal identifiable information such as Social Security information and banking information, which is protected by law, unless in response to a warrant, subpoena, or other court order.
The ASRS does not sell or provide member information that can be used in commercial solicitations.
