Our Popular Annual Financial Report

PAFREver wonder how your retirement system is doing financially? We’d love to tell you! Whether it’s how your contributions are being invested, how we’re doing compared to past years, and what our membership looks like, check out the Popular Annual Financial Report (PAFR).

The ASRS PAFR is a condensed financial report published at the end of each calendar year. It provides the public with an overview of the health and sustainability of the ASRS. At the end of each fiscal year (June 30th), the ASRS Financial Services Division begins compiling reports to summarize the year from a financial perspective. Those numbers and statistics are organized into a large, 150-plus page report called the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR.) Those reports are distilled even further to create a graphical summary – our 12-page PAFR. Both reports can be found on the the Annual Reports page, found in the About Us section of AzASRS.gov.

What’s In the PAFR? It shows if our funded status has increased or decreased each year, gives a high-level breakdown of how contributions are invested, and outlines how our investments are performing compared to our 1, 3, 5, and 10-year benchmarks. It also gives a look at our assets and liabilities for the most recent fiscal year compared to the previous, and summarizes member demographic data such as average age, average annual salary, and average years of service for both active members and retirees.

We hope you find the information as informative as we do and that it gives you confidence your future pension is in good hands!
