ASRS Recognized for Financial Reporting for 25th Consecutive Year

For the 25th consecutive year, the Arizona State Retirement System has been awarded the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for its Comprehensive Annual Financial Report.

The award by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada recognizes “achievement in the highest standards” for government accounting and financial reporting. The GFOA also recognized the ASRS for its Popular Annual Financial Report, a reader-friendly summary of the full annual report. The 2013 Comprehensive Annual Financial Report and the Popular Report can be found on the ASRS website in the Annual Reports page.

Nancy Bennett, Chief Financial Officer for the ASRS, and Liz Rozzell, Controller, were presented the two awards at the August Board of Trustees meeting.

“This recognition shows the high standards that the ASRS meets in its financial reporting and serves to confer confidence to our members that their retirement fund is soundly managed,” ASRS Director Paul Matson said. “It also speaks highly of our staff and their commitment to excellence.”

The GFOA is the professional association of state/provincial and local finance officers in the United States and Canada, and has served the public finance profession since 1906.
